Lush green gives way to dazzling white in these two images of Ireland from NASA's Multi-angle SpectroRadiometer. The summer view shows the verdant landscape for which Ireland is famous, while the other, taken after a record-breaking winter storm, reveals the Emerald Isle with an unusual coating of snow. MISR, built and managed by NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, is one of several Earth-observing experiments aboard Terra, which was launched in December 1999. MISR acquires images of the Earth at nine angles simultaneously, using nine separate cameras pointed forward, downward, and backward along its flight path.
