Heidi Herman
Deputy Director for Laboratory Administration

Huong (Heidi) Herman serves as the Deputy Director for the Lab Administration Directorate at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, a role she assumed in October 2025. In this capacity, she provides strategic leadership and oversight for the administrative functions that enable the Laboratory’s mission and organizational effectiveness. Prior to this appointment, she served as the Assistant Manager in the Office of the Director’s Chief of Staff, supporting executive planning and the coordination of Laboratory-wide business and administrative operations.
Heidi began her career at JPL in 1994 as a student intern and has since progressed through roles of increasing responsibility, including Business Administrator and Business Manager across the Office of the Director, Human Resources Directorate, Laboratory Operations Integration Directorate, Engineering & Science Directorate, and the Office of Safety & Mission Success Directorate. Her diverse portfolio includes establishing business operations for a Center of Excellence, leading institutional workshops and events, guiding human resources and workforce initiatives, overseeing financial and business management functions, and supporting the evaluation of enterprise business tools. Her deep understanding of engineering culture and the dynamic environment of a research laboratory continues to drive her commitment to advancing the institution’s mission.
Heidi holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance (with a minor in Economics) from California State University, Los Angeles.
