A New Measure of Ocean Winds
Jet Propulsion Laboratory https://www.jpl.nasa.gov/ Sept. 2, 2014
ISS-RapidScat will collect data on ocean winds to support weather and marine forecasting including tracking storms and hurricanes and aid climate research. It is the first Earth-observing instrument designed to mount on the International Space Station. The station's unique orbit will enable ISS-RapidScat to make the first observations of how ocean winds vary over the course of the day, vital information for improving the accuracy of all satellite wind measurements.
