Actor William Shatner and others from the "Star Trek" television and motion-picture casts will appear at kickoff program for the Jet Propulsion Laboratory's United Way campaign at noon Wednesday, Oct. 7, in JPL's mall.
A skit featuring the actors will be among activities initiating the Laboratory's 1987-88 employee pledge campaign on behalf of the charitable organization.
Last year 71 percent of JPL's staff pledged total of $414,000 to United Way. The current goal is 75 percent participation and $440,000 for the organization.
