Slice of History - Editorial Shifts in Lab-Oratory
Effective May 1956, JPLer Stan Locke took over for Dave Browne as Editor of Lab-Oratory, the Lab’s former employee newspaper that was published and distributed monthly. According to the announcement in the April 1956 edition of Lab-Oratory, “Stan [] had considerable experience as a script writer in radio and television, [was] a ‘disc jockey’ and [was] well acquainted with sports and recreational activities.” Here he is pictured (right) with his predecessor, Dave as they jointly prepare the copy for the announcement, taken 1956-04-05.
Today, the employee newspaper has evolved into what we now know as JPL Space, an online destination for internal announcements, events, and feature stories. The site is managed by Lab Engagement’s Internal Communications Team. CL#24-1020
