Deep Space 1 is carrying 12 experimental technologies and instruments that it has flight-tested in space. Now that these risky inventions have been proven to work (with the remaining ones expected to be validated as well), future space missions will incorporate them into their own spacecraft to conduct very exciting, in-depth explorations of the solar system.

For a quick rundown of some of the missions NASA is planning in the near future that will use other advanced technologies to accomplish their goals, look into Missions In The Works. Here you will be able to learn about a mission, Stardust, that plans to capture dust from a comet using an extraordinary material called aerogel.

Get involved with teachers and students interested in technology education through the International Technology Education Association (ITEA). Network with other technology education professionals, use their placement service, or learn about technology-related grants and scholarships through their quarterly news releases. The ITEA is a comprehensive resource for teachers and students from K-12.
