Dr. Karina L. Edmonds
Dr. Karina Edmonds received her B.A. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Rhode Island, and a M.S. and a Ph. D. degrees in Aeronautics from the California Institute of Technology. After graduating from Caltech, Dr. Edmonds served as Principle Investigator at TRW, Inc., where she co-authored two patent applications in the area of noise reduction for the automotive environment. She then joined JPL where she currently serves as a Senior Technology Transfer Specialist in the Strategic Intellectual Assets Management Office. In this capacity, Dr. Edmonds is responsible for transferring technology developed in the laboratories of JPL to the market place.

The youngest of six girls, Karina was born in the Dominican Republic. She became interested in engineering at a very young age; During her first plane ride she was in awe at the way a big chunk of metal with so many people inside could not only stay in the air despite itsÂ’ massive weight, but actually reach a predetermined destination. Ever since that event, while watching planes in the air she thought that if she could understand how a plane flies, she would be able to understand a lot. She did.
