Deep Impact Spots Quarry- On Apr. 25, 2005, NASA's Deep Impact successfully took the first image of its quarry, comet Tempel 1. The image, taken at a distance of 63.9 million kilometers (39.7 million miles), is the first of many the mission will take leading up to its July 4 encounter, when the spacecraft's impactor collides with the comet.
