Deep Space 1 will be launched on a small launch rocket called the Delta 7326. Because the rocket can carry more than the weight of the Deep Space 1 spacecraft, another spacecraft, built by Students for the Exploration and Development of Space at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, will also be launched into space on the same rocket.
