A news briefing for the upcoming arrival of NASA's Galileo spacecraft at the planet Jupiter will be held at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory on Thursday, November 9.
The briefing, which will begin at 10 a.m. Pacific time, will include a preview of Jupiter activities by Galileo Project Manager William J. O'Neil of JPL, Galileo Project Scientist Dr. Torrence Johnson of JPL, and Probe Scientist Dr. Richard Young of NASA's Ames Research Center. Galileo will arrive at Jupiter on December 7, sending a descent probe into the giant planet's swirling atmosphere.
Media are invited to the briefing, which will be held in JPL's von Karman Auditorium, 4800 Oak Grove Drive, Pasadena. The briefing will also be carried live on NASA Television via Spacenet 2, transponder 5, channel 9, at 69 degrees west longitude, frequency 3880.0 megahertz, audio 6.8 megahertz.
