Two managers who oversee Jet Propulsion Laboratory administrative functions have been promoted to new positions, it has been announced.
Daryal T. Gant, formerly manager of JPL's Procurement Division, has been named manager, administrative operations, in the office of John Heie, assistant laboratory director for administrative divisions.
He is succeeded as Procurement Division manager by Fraser W. Draper, who formerly served as deputy manager of that division.
In his new position, Gant will oversee and provide direction for day-to-day operations of JPL's administrative divisions. Those divisions are responsible for providing Lab- wide support in contract management, documentation, facilities, finance, materiel, personnel and procurement. Gant's duties will also include long-range planning and the recommendation of new administrative initiatives.
Gant joined JPL in 1962 as senior contract negotiator after other positions with Southern California aerospace and technical firms. graduate of UCLA with bachelor's degree in business administration, Gant also holds an MBA degree from UCLA and completed that university's Executive Management Program. He was appointed Procurement Division manager in 1975.
Draper, graduate of Washington State University with bachelor's degrees in business administration and in industrial psychology, also completed the USC Graduate School of Business' Executive Program. Joining JPL in 1962 as contract negotiator, he undertook variety of other assignments before being named Procurement Division deputy manager in 1980.
Gant and his wife, Mary, reside in La Crescenta and are the parents of two grown children. Draper and his wife, Dee, are residents of La Canada-Flintridge and also have two grown children.
