JPL's Radio Club Relays Space Shuttle Columbia Launch

Local amateur radio operators may monitor audio between NASA's Space Shuttle Columbia and Mission Control during the upcoming flight (June 27 July 4, 1982), through the radio relay system established by JPL's Amateur Radio Club (W6VIO).

Local amateur radio operators may monitor audio between NASA's Space Shuttle Columbia and Mission Control during the upcoming flight (June 27 July 4, 1982), through the radio relay system established by JPL's Amateur Radio Club (W6VIO).

Primary audo output from JPL will be on 224.04 MHz FM. Known relays are:

- l45.60 MHz Los Angeles (Mt. Wilson)

- l47.24" Los Angeles

- 446.70" Los Angeles (San Gabriel Valley)

- 446.275" Los Angeles (San Fernando Valley)

- l47.945 Santa Barbara/Ventura

- l46.265" San Diego

Coverage will continue from launch, scheduled for June 27 at 8 a.m. PDT from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida, through scheduled landing on Rogers Dry Lake at Edwards Air Force Base in California at 9:13 a.m. PDT on July 4.

Discussion networks will be held on several evenings during the flight to provide information about the flight and to allow amateur radio operators to participate in roundtable discussions on the space shuttle.
