Susan D. Henry, assistant vice president for human resources at the California Institute of Technology, has been named director of Jet Propulsion Laboratory's newly created Human Resources Directorate.
JPL's human resources organization, currently a division in the Business Operations Directorate, will become a directorate- level organization beginning March 25, when Henry's appointment will become effective.
According to JPL Director Dr. Edward C. Stone, the elevation of the Human Resources Division into a directorate-level organization "acknowledges the vital role of our employees in the Laboratory's present and future success."
In her current position at Caltech, Henry has provided oversight of and liaison with human resource activities at JPL. She has previously served as manager of the JPL Employee Compensation, Services and Records Section and as director of personnel services at the Claremont University Center.
Henry has 21 years of experience in the human resources/personnel field. She holds a bachelor's degree in business from the University of Redlands and has an Executive MBA from the Claremont Graduate School.
Henry has served as an officer of the Southern California College and University Personnel Association and the Association of Independent California Colleges and Universities. She is on the advisory council to the Teacher's Insurance Annuity Association/College Retirement Equities Fund.
She and her husband, Cliff, live in Claremont, California, and have two grown children.
