Studying a Storm From Many Angles
three pairs of images showing progress of Hurricane Wilma Cloud-Top Height
JPL's Multi-angle Imaging SpectroRadiometer acquired this sequence of images and cloud-top height observations of Hurricane Wilma. Information on cloud top heights during a hurricane's life cycle may prove useful for evaluating weather models. Each image pair has a photo-like view on the left and a matching color-coded image of cloud-top height on the right. Cloud-top heights range in altitude from ground level (purple) to 18 kilometers, about 11 miles, (red).
