Slice of History - 22nd JPL/Caltech Alumni Seminar

Oct. 2, 2023
Black and white image of 20 men, women, and children surrounding a table where 1 man presents information about various unidentified pieces related to space study.

JPL and Caltech have a close relationship that extends far beyond planetary exploration, Earth Science, and space-based astronomy. This photo, taken 13 April 1959, shows Caltech alumni and JPL employees mixing and mingling at an alumni event held on Lab. According to the May 1959 issue of Lab-Oratory, “Many employees from all over the Lab and Caltech, about 200 in all, guided, toured and demonstrated various phases of operation for the edification of about 1500 people participating in the 22nd Annual Alumni Seminar […] This was the largest tour to ever be conducted on the Lab” up to this point. Alumni days brought Caltech and JPL together to celebrate our shared partnership, milestones, and achievements. CL#23-4557
