NuSTAR on Coral Island of Kwajalein
Jet Propulsion Laboratory https://www.jpl.nasa.gov/ June 8, 2012
The carrier plane that will give NuSTAR and its rocket a lift to their airborne launch site is seen here at sunrise on Kwajalein Atoll in the Pacific Ocean (an atoll is a coral island with a central lagoon). NuSTAR and its Pegasus XL rocket are strapped to the bottom of the plane -- the L-1011 "Stargazer" -- from Orbital Sciences Corporation.
