[00:00:00] Title: Titan Canyon Country [00:00:01] The radar that we've been flying around Saturn [00:00:04] Text: Voice of Tom Farr, Cassini radar team associate and passing by Titan periodically, [00:00:05] we've been able to map out the surface brightness as the radar sees it. [00:00:10] We see geologic processes that are very similar to what we see on the Earth. [00:00:15] This is a computer generated 3-D fly through of an area of karst typography on Titan. [00:00:22] Text: Karst Topography: Landscape shaped by the dissolving of bedrock [00:00:22] It was generated by inferring the typography and then laying a radar image down on top of the 3-D map. [00:00:30] This area is an area called Sikun Labyrinthus on Titan. [00:00:35] It's an area of karst typography very similar to the karst typography we find on Earth, Text: White Canyon, Utah [00:00:41] Text: Cockpit Country, Jamaica especially in places like Jamaica, [00:00:43] Text: Arecibo, Puerto Rico Puerto Rico [00:00:45] Text: Guangxi province, China or China. [00:00:48] It's an area where liquid methane here on Titan has dissolved the rocks and produced a residual landscape [00:00:55] of just hills and valleys with no river valleys flowing through the area. [00:01:00] So it's yet again another process that we see on the Earth that we find on Titan [00:01:06] making Titan very similar to the Earth in many ways.
