Missions to the Sun:
(Unless otherwise noted, JPL manages the following missions for NASA.)

Current:
Ulysses Ulysses
   A joint project between NASA and the European Space Agency, the Ulysses spacecraft is orbiting the Sun to study its north and south poles.
Launch Date:  October 6, 1990
First South Pole Pass:  1994
First North Pole Pass:  1995
Genesis Genesis
   The Genesis spacecraft will be placed into orbit around L1, a point between Earth and the Sun where the gravity of both bodies is balanced, to collect particles of the solar wind. After two years, the samples will be returned to Earth.
Launch Date:  August 8, 2001
