The rover's drill pierces the surface to collect water from underground ice. This design, created for future Mars explorers, was dreamed up by high school students from Art Center Saturday High, Pasadena, Calif. The students are part of the Imagine Mars Project, a national initiative that partners students with scientists, engineers, artists and civic leaders to design and share a futuristic Mars community for 100 people.
