A Mountain of Biblical Proportions: Mount Ararat, Turkey |
Mount Ararat in easternmost Turkey has been the site of several searches for the remains of Noah's Ark. The two volcanic peaks here are Great Ararat, Turkey's tallest mountain; and Little Ararat to its left. Visualizations of satellite imagery can be combined with elevation models to reveal volcanic hazards such as landslides, leading to disaster prevention through improved land use planning.
