Pasadena Observing in 3-D
Scientists and engineers create three-dimensional images so they can study fine details of the object they are observing. Earth, the sun, Mars and Saturn's moons are featured in this slide show. At first glance, you may think you need glasses. And you do! 3-D glasses are required for the best viewing.

Pasadena, Calif.: JPL is in the center of this image, with La Canada-Flintridge to the left and Altadena/Pasadena to the right. Data from the Shuttle Radar Topography mission and the U.S. Geological Survey were used to create this view.
