Mercury, taken by MESSENGER spacecraft
Mercury Mercury's Colorful Limb
This color image of Mercury shows the bright rays of Hokusai crater, which cross the surface from north to south. The subtle color variations may be due to differences in particle size, duration of time exposed on the surface or surface composition.

The MESSENGER spacecraft took this image on March 29, 2011.
