Neptune Neptune's Rings
Neptune's two main rings are visible in this image, taken in 1989 by NASA's Voyager 2 spacecraft. Both bright rings have material throughout their entire orbit, and are therefore continuous.

Also visible is the inner faint ring and the faint band which extends halfway between the two bright rings. The bright glare is due to over-exposure of the crescent on Neptune. Numerous bright stars are evident in the background.
